At The Elms Academy, we assess student progress in two ways: informally during lessons and formally under exam conditions. Informal checks help us understand how students are learning in real-time. Formal assessments, held throughout the year, prepare students for the pressure and structure of public exams in Years 10, 11, and 13. By practicing in exam-like settings, students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed when it matters most.
The next assessment period for KS3, Year 10, and Year 12 students will take place during the week beginning Monday, 9th June 2025.
For KS3 students, these assessments will check their understanding of key topics covered this year. The results will help inform future teaching and identify any gaps in knowledge as students move into the next academic year.
For Year 10, this is an important opportunity to sit full GCSE papers at the halfway point of their course. These assessments will provide valuable insight into their progress and help identify areas for development as they prepare to enter Year 11.
For Year 12, these are their UCAS exams. The grades achieved will be used to inform their predicted grades for university applications, making this a particularly significant assessment period.
Please ensure students are aware of the importance of these exams and are well supported in their preparation.
