After a lengthy consultation which began in October of 2021, The Elms Academy celebrated it's new name with a special launch ceremony in the school's main hall on Thursday 16th September. The ceremony took place in the main hall which quickly filled with the entire Year 7 cohort, parents, teachers and special guests from Lambeth Council and United Learning, including Chief Executive, Sir Jon Coles and Director of Academies, Dame Sally Coates. Executive Principal Mr Leon Wilson and Principal Mrs Amy Welch welcomed guests following an uplifting performance by Year 9 and Year 10 drummers. Year 7 students spoke about their hopes and dreams for The Elms Academy and the school choir performed The Elms Academy song which they worked on with guest composer Byron Gold during the summer term. Finally, Sir Jon Coles unveiled the plaque after congratulating the assembled on the many achievements and successes which has led to this exciting new chapter in the school's history.
